Highlights of the 2008 Spring Conference
Thank you to all who attended the 2008 St. Paul Senior Workers Spring Conference; Ambiguous: Loss, Trauma & Resilience which was held on 5/14/08 at the Radisson of Roseville. Here are some of the highlights from the conference.
Our Conference Speaker
Pauline Boss, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, University of Minnesota; Fellow in the American Psychological Association, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, and National Council on Family Relations; therapist in private practice. Widely recognized for groundbreaking research on ambiguous loss.

Dr. Boss is known as a pioneer in the interdisciplinary study of stress. Since 1973, she has researched family stress, especially where there is unclear loss. Dr. Boss's most recent book, Loss, Trauma, and Resilience, presents therapeutic treatment guidelines and is based on her work with families of the physically missing after 9/11 and in Kosovo with the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as her work with families of loved ones missing psychologically-from Alzheimer's disease, chronic mental illness and traumatic brain injury. Here are the two books she had at the conference and if you are interested you can go to her website at www.ambiguousloss.com.

Pauline’s books were available at the conference:

Loss, Trauma, and Resilience: Therapeutic Work with Ambiguous Loss (W.W. Norton, 2006).

Ambiguous Loss: Learning to Live with Unresolved Grief (Harvard University Press, 1999)
