About this event:
Topic: Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) : Spotlighting another member of the dementia family
Presenter: Jayne Clairmont and Deborah Dolan
As aging services providers, we understand that Alzheimer’s is only one form of dementia but the most often diagnosed. Alzheimer’s has become synonymous with dementia much like Kleenex is synonymous with tissues. But Frontotemporal Degeneration is not Alzheimer’s disease. These two forms of dementia have different pathologies yet are not exclusive of one another. At onset, FTD’s symptoms do not typically look like dementia leading to many cases of misdiagnosed behavioral issues.
Jayne Clairmont will speak to the physical aspects of FTD, and Deborah will lend her personal story of a life changing diagnosis for her and her husband, Todd. You need to hear what Jayne and Deborah have to share about Frontotemporal Degeneration.
